Whining in My Ear

Are you there, Margaret? Guess who. It has been quite a day of nothingness. We took no bike rides or walks. It was HOT (not as hot as Texas, course), and as the day has wore on it has become overcast and somewhat windy. After I got Nathan down for a nap this afternoon and the other children were engaged in Indiana Jones (#3), I slipped out to the hammock (just a string one from our local SuperWal-Mart that hangs between two trees; the hammock, not the store) and fell asleep. Just a light doze, as my prone position reminded me somewhat of being in a car seat and on occasion the crick in my neck would awaken me. I meant to read my book, but I never got that far before M.K. was at the back door yelling at me that Nathan was on his way out to me. He had woke up early. (Heavy sigh.) Oh well. As my dear husband would say so profoundly, "I'll sleep when I'm dead." Seth has been working down at the church/school and is not extremely happy about it. This is due in part because I make him traverse the 5 blocks between here and there and he comes home for lunch (which is approximately a mile and a half total trek. It would be 2 miles, but I usually take him to begin with (which I feel is going above and beyond). Part of it is due to his diet, which consists of nothing he actually wants to eat and so is hungry during the day (and night). He hasn't had a pay check yet and when he does it will probably be more rewarding for him. He and Tuey leave Sunday for Scout Camp. They are taking three classes, shotgun, weather, and fly fishing. They were going for basketry instead of shotgun until some woman told them it sounded like a class for girl scouts. I will let them report their experience when they return. Except for an Eagle Project, Seth is nearly ready to be an actual Eagle Scout. Tuey has made it to Life Scout, next step is Eagle after this, but he probably has a long way to go. Seth is looking over my shoulder reading this and is highly offended that I made the reference to the girl scout/basketry issue. He also thinks I have made him sound like some lazy *&*%*. (Which he is not.) Ah Seth. He's sighing now. Okay, Margaret (and any other friendly eyes) now you have it.

Very clever to take turns; how is it decided, because I see no order and Lindsay skipped Seth? Regardless, thank you for the ties that you have created betwixt our families by allowing your children to blog. We are grateful to know them. And yourself as well. I am with Kara too, nothing like a shotgun under your arm.
