MONOPOLY ----by Tuey
Ok its Sunday night and we haven't done anything all day, so we decide to play a game as a family. We have the vintage addition of Monopoly that has not been used yet so we decide to play that. First few turns work out for everyone -escpecially Mary Kate who got Boardwalk by landing on chance. Seth however ended up on income tax and then in jail by chance. He was very crabby about that. Later on in the game, when there are actually houses on the board, Daddy is trying to make a trade with Mary Kate. Me and Mommy happen to land on two different spaces that both belong to him. It's in the rules that you don't have to pay rent if there's been a roll of the dice by the next player. We decided not to pay him the rent. After about three turns, he noticed. He got angry and gave Mommy all of his cards and money and tried to leave the game. We would not let him. He came back and his next turn landed him on one of my spaces (the slum areas Baltic and Mediterranean and Vermont, Oriental, and whatever the other one is). He decides he doesn't want to pay rent either. I didn't notice. It's my turn and I land on his railroad. I quickly hand the dice to Seth and make him roll. I didn't pay Daddy's rent either. He would have owed me $350 so I wasn't making a big dent in his budget. I see that I should be playing fairly and so does he so he decides to pay his rent. Even later on in the game, Daddy is gone (Nathan has to go to bed by now) and Mommy decides to leave. Sean is losing. (Big time.) She says she has "passed on" and with her dying breath, she gives Sean all of her money and property and tells him not to give anybody anything except Mary Kate because she has the two biggest Monopolies. He stupidly agrees. Mary Kate needs one more card for another full Monopoly. Sean has the card. She offers him $500 for it. I offer him $1000. She throws in a few more hundreds to make it look like she has more bills. He takes her money. I was going to get the card and give it to M.K. if she would promise to charge me no money for getting on her land. But that fell through thanks to Mommy. I would have won, but my parents decided to tell us to go to bed. I don't think I will ever be able to finish a game of Monopoly in my life. How long is that game supposed to take anyway? There you go, Kara. I've blogged. Tell me what you think.

I very much enjoyed the detailed description of the monopoly game. I myself most of the time do NOT like to play..whether because I am not ruthless enough and never win..or because my older brother (jared) will make the game very miserable if anyone but him is winning. I am not good with money..in real life or in monopoly. Days. the game can take days. And I don't think that pretend dying and bequeathing money is the proper way to do it. I think there is supposed to be an auction of sorts..by the banker. Anyhow..sorry you didn't win..good to hear from you though!!
